Get the right skills on the strategic planning team

Often, the key players in the organization are the organizers, taskmasters, aligners, not the strategists. That is the reality, they respect the skills of the strategists, but the job still has to get done. The team leader has to seek a balance and get a balance of positioners, adapters and aligners on the team

	Attend training on strategic planning
	Outsource research, use consultants
	Involve stakeholders
	Accept that strategists have to devote their time to start the process
	Seek out other champions
	Hire folks with a big picture approach
	Insist on diversity on the team
